The Fred de Vries Interviews, from Abdullah to Zille is a collection of pieces written for South African publications The Weekender and Empire. It was published by Wits University Press in 2008, and contains interviews with the country’s cultural movers and shakers in the new millennium.

Some of the people featured are jazz giant Abdullah Ibrahim, Afrikaans singer/activist Steve Hofmeyr, artist Anton Kannemeyer, writer Marlene van Niekerk, painter Herman Niebuhr, journalist Nikiwe Bikitsha, punk rockers Fokofpolisiekar, contrarian Rian Malan and art and record connoisseur Warren Siebrits.

The cover was based on a painting by Mark Kannemeyer. The book was longlisted for the Sunday Times Alan Paton Award 2009.
